Why are Cars Seized by the Government and Sold Cheaply in Auctions?

There are various laws governing the seizure of vehicles including anti-mob laws and tax laws. Some of these cars are seized from drug and criminal syndicates. Others belong to folks who default on tax payments and these are normally acquired by the IRS. Yet there are others who are caught in bankruptcy suits that led to the eventual surrendering of their automobiles to the government agencies.

Everyday, thousands of cars end up in seized car auctions because the government agencies do not wish to waste money in maintaining them. Huge storage spaces as well as the depreciation of these used cars make it more imperative for them to auction the repossessed vehicles at depressed prices.

Who Can Take Part in These Seized Car Auctions

Until recently, many people do not know about these auctions. For a long while, these auto auctions are privy only to used car dealers. So these businessmen have been keeping mum about it and quietly profiting from them.

Seized car auctions are either closed or open. Closed auctions are open only to those who have an approved license to bid, while others are accessible to the general public. As long as you are above 18 years of age, you can purchase a repossessed used car at the auction.

Bugatti Veyron sells for £625000 at auction

This is the first ever Bugatti Veyron to face an auction hall due to the fact that the previous owner of the rare hypercar lost everything due to the recession including his business, house and his prized Bugatti which Lloyds TSB are selling off at auction. I was lucky enough to attend this event held in BCA British Car Auctions in Blackbushe, Surrey. The sale was part of a number of prestige motors up for grabs including Ferrari F430s, 360s, Vantages, Vanquishs, DB9s etc… The car has only covered 13000klms from new and was registered in 2006 at Jack Barclay in London. The specification is the best I have ever seen on a Veyron, dark metallic blue body with silver wings complemented by a azzuro blue leather interior. A stunning car no less. I filmed the whole auction process so you can see how the starting bid of half a million soon ended up at the £625000 winning bid. A very intense and exciting few minutes I find personally. I hope you enjoy. All filming and pictures by me. The music is ‘Rappers Delight’ by The Sugar Hill Gang. I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE SOUNDTRACK OR MUSIC IN THIS VIDEO.
